Why You Gave Up on Change (And What to Do Next)
Feb 17, 2026If you’re reading this, you may have heard me speak live or watched the free Time Boss Masterclass.
The Time Boss Framework gave you the most remarkable feeling:
Hope.
Hope that your experience of time could be different.
Hope that you could get incredible results.
Hope that you could experience PEACE instead of constant stress.
You left the session with me, or closed the video, and took a next step.
“Tomorrow it will be different”, you said.
And it was, for a while.
Based on averages, you lasted 19 days before falling back to earth, and resorting to whatever it was you were doing related to time before you met me.
Not because you’re lazy.
Not because you’re undisciplined.
It’s because you’re human.
Everybody Has a Plan Till They Get Punched in the Face
A classic line spoken by the warrior poet Mike Tyson.
You were doing great with your calendar blocking, or your new time habits, or your Whirlwind (or whatever you learned from the Time Boss Framework). It was taking effort and brain power for sure, but you were focused on it, feeling more PEACE and making more PROGRESS…
…Then something happened:
THAT email...
THAT fire...
THAT relationship...
Whatever it was, it was a crisis. And it knocked you off kilter, demanding all of your attention.
Any mental bandwidth you had for helpful Time Boss ideas got gobbled up by the crisis, and your brain reverted to your previous habits simply out of survival.
James Clear said this in Atomic Habits: “we don’t rise to the level of our goals, we fall to the level of our systems.”

Crisis hit, and you “fell to the level of your systems”. In an effort of self-protection, your body switched everything it could to autopilot, in order to maximize energy to deal with the crisis.
You weren’t lazy. You weren’t broken. Your body was just trying to protect you, so Time Boss got set aside. At a basic level, Time Boss didn't get enough time to become your new “system” to weather that crisis.
The problem is one crisis rolls into another. And here you are X weeks (months?) away from “hope”, and you might be right back where you started.
Are you doomed to this simply being the way it is?
Of course not. Do this next.
Get Back on the Horse
You already know the Time Boss framework works. You know it will help you experience more PEACE, and in turn more PROGRESS.
You just need more time for this to become your “system”: the thing your brain does without thinking about it, and the thing your brain trusts in a crisis.
What’s most important is getting back in the game. To do so, ask "What’s the smallest next action I can take to start building momentum again?". Here are some ideas:
- Get back to using your calendar as your todo list
- Get Whirlwind back in your calendar and separate out reactive and proactive time
- Add recurring tasks to your calendar and stop “trying to remember them”
- Need more ideas? Check out the free Time Boss Masterclass. You can literally implement ANYTHING from the Masterclass as a next step.
Back to Atomic Habits, James Clear helped us understand that reps are simply votes for the person we want to become. Whatever small next action you choose helps you get reps at a new way of being. You just need to get back in the game and start voting again.
But how do you ensure you weather the next crisis and fall to the level of your new Time Boss systems?
Stop going it alone.
Get a Teammate
Our goal is to keep you on the horse.
You’re far more likely to stay on the horse if someone else is aware of what you’re trying to do. Can you share with your team, boss, spouse, coworker, friend, etc. and ask them to ask you about it later this week? That last part is critical to drive our behavior. If you think they will be observing you, that kicks in your desire to show up and do it.
You’re even more likely to show up if you have a teammate there with you. You get all the motivation of them observing you, and you provide them the same service in return. AND you both get more PEACE and PROGRESS. Total win.
If you’re thinking, “Not sure I want to do that kind of pressure”, I’d encourage you to find a sober moment to ask a powerful question: “Do I actually want more PEACE and PROGRESS?”
Of course you do, so get a teammate.
Now maybe, even with a teammate, you're still finding yourself (or your team) in a tough spot.
I've got you.
If All Else Fails, Let Time Boss Help
If you know you want PEACE and PROGRESS, and you’re not sure you can overcome the roadblocks you or your team experiencing, consider bringing in a Time Boss trainer.
A Time Boss trainer has literally seen it all before, and can help you rapidly move past the roadblocks you’re experiencing, and can be your accountability partner in the process to help you navigate even the hardiest crisis.
Whether it’s training, 1x1 coaching or group coaching, your Time Boss trainer is ready to jump into your unique situation, help you apply the Time Boss Framework, and get you the PEACE and PROGRESS you deeply want.
If you want to explore what that might look like for you or your team, schedule a 60 minute call with us. We’ll discuss your unique situation, show you how Time Boss can map to your world, and evaluate the right next step for you.
You'll Get the Life You Choose, or the Life You'll Tolerate
Whether you heed our advice above or not, life's going to keep moving.
You can either keep tolerating the stress you're experiencing, doing the best you can while you watch your health, relationships, and (eventually) your results suffer.
Or you can get the life you choose. One marked by PEACE, not stress, and incredible PROGRESS on the things that matter most to you.
My strong encouragement is to choose it.
